Use vowel length deliberately: a / aa = අ / ආ; ae / aae = ඇ / ඈ; i / ii = ඉ / ඊ; u / uu = උ / ඌ; e / ee = එ / ඒ; o / oo = ඔ / ඕ.
kra → ක්ර, kya → ක්ය; k_ → ක් (al-lakuna); k^ka → ක්ක (joined conjunct); r^ka → ර්ක (repaya); ~m → ං; :h → ඃ. The ^ marker is explicit to avoid guessing.
Common alternatives: v/w → ව; sh → ශ, Sh → ෂ; th → ත, t → ට; dh → ධ, d → ද; N → ණ, L → ළ. Some frequent spellings such as amma, yanawa and lanka use documented word-level conventions.
This deterministic phonetic system does not understand context or grammar. Names, uncommon Sanskrit conjuncts, dialects and ambiguous spellings may need manual correction. Unicode fonts and rendering vary by device.
